I had an RC plane version of that for a while, powered by a 2s LiPo and brushless motor it was sooo fast, I crashed it more than I kept it in the air.

The Granville Brothers were the equivalent of Colin Chapman in the airplane world, build an airframe around the engine with just enough to keep it flying and nothing more.

Is it wrong that I read that in Gimli’s voice? The Gee Bee Model R is featured on next Tuesday’s Aviation History post (8/16).

They should build one with bigger wings, to relieve some of that threat of death.
